About MCFC:

Materials for catalysis and fuel cells (MCFC) research laboratory at Atilim University focuses mainly on the development of new materials for fuel cells and catalytic applications. Besides developing novel materials, improving efficiencies of catalytic processes, fuel cell systems, and developing new efficient and sustainable catalytic processes are also in the research scope of the group. The current main research areas include electrocatalysis and solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC).

One of the projects that are currently being carried out on electrocatalysis, “Electrocatalytic Ammonia Production Using Nitride Conducting Electrolytes,” is funded by TUBITAK BIDEB 2232 International Fellowship For Outstanding Researchers Program. This project aims to develop a new and sustainable ammonia production method by use of electrocatalysis. Besides developing an efficient process for ammonia production, developing nitride conducting electrolytes and active ammonia production electrocatalysts are also studied in this project.

Developing materials for fuel cells is also studied in the MCFC Research Laboratory. Developing interconnector materials and electrode materials for solid oxide fuel cells are some of the other projects that are currently being studied in the laboratory.
